Community bands together to rescue stranded dolphin at Croker Island
20 March 2013A rare dolphin species has been recorded in the Territory for the very first time, after becoming stranded at the remote town of Minjilang on Croker Island last weekend.
Garngi Indigenous Rangers, community members, NT Police and marine mammal scientists from the Department of Land Resource Management (DLRM), all worked together on Saturday in an effort to rescue the three metre Risso’s dolphin after it became stranded at Mission Beach on Friday evening.
